In the Sound of Body, 2024

Live performance & Installation with Public Engagement

This project is grounded in the idea that sonic experiences function as a powerful and universal language, capable of generating shared emotional and bodily experiences. By approaching sound as vibration, the project explores how sound moves through and connects bodies, forming moments of collective resonance beyond linguistic and cultural boundaries.

Project Background

The project draws on the Korean bell as a historical and philosophical metaphor, emphasising sound as a collective, time-based resonance experienced through vibration. Focusing on the human voice as a universally accessible source, the work uses participatory methods to layer vocal vibrations, exploring how individual expressions merge into a shared sonic body. This process is supported by a resonant, bell-inspired structure and real-time looping technologies that allow vocal sounds to accumulate and transform over time. Through this process, the project positions sound as a relational medium capable of generating collective emotional experience.
